It is my privilege and distinctive honour to represent and serve the people and
Government of Pakistan in Sydney Australia. Although we have spent only 1 Vz year in
Sydney, but the warmth and cooperation of the community as well as the hospitable
environment of Australia, made us feel as if we have been living here for ages. Despite
being thousands of miles away from our immediate families we feel at home in Australia in
the company of so many nice friends and families.
On the occasion of Eidul Adha, I am pleased to convey my sincere and heartfelt greetings to
my Pakistani brothers and sisters and their families as well as all Muslims in Australia.
Eid is a moment of joy and happiness but Eidul Adha signifies ultimate sacrifice, offered by
prophets Ibrahim and Ismael (AS). Keeping in view the spirit behind celebrating this
occasion, while merrymaking, let us not forget our less fortunate brethren and the haveĀ
nots amongst us, whether in Australia or in Pakistan. Let us think about and materially
support the Internally Displaced People (lDPs) of North Waziristan and the adjoining
areas as well as the victims of the recent floods in Pakistan. It is their right and our
responsibility to spare funds from our means and donate for their sustenance so as to
minimize their miseries in their difficult and challenging time.
On the directives of Government of Pakistan a bank account titled “Consulate General of
Pakistan – Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund” has been opened in the Commonwealth
Bank of Australia (BSB 062000 and Account No. 15911380). Those interested in
supporting their deserving and needy compatriots may deposit the donations in the said
account under intimation to the Consulate General of Pakistan Sydney.
Let us pray for the betterment of our homeland, Pakistan, and resolve to practically take
steps for the welfare of our country and well being of our compatriots, whether in
Pakistan or in Australia / abroad.Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity in wishing a very best of luck to the newly
formed Sangat Australia on its first publication with the hope that we will see much more
of this magazine in the future.
