MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER
I would like to send warm wishes to readers of Sangat embarking on the month-long
journey of Ramadan.Ramadan holds special significance in the lives of Muslim Australians. It is a time of
spiritual reflection and asks members of the Islamic faith to fast between sunrise and
sunset.The focus and reflective nature of Ramadan supports our way of life and is a timely
reminder of the values we all share, including kindness, honesty, family and charity.The smallest of gestures can often promote the greatest understanding and acceptance of our religious differences. I would encourage all Muslims to invite people from all faiths to join them in breaking the fast in the evenings.
