Message for Sangat & Eid ul-Adha by the Minister of citizenship

Eid ul-Adha is one of the principal festivals on the Islamic calendar and is widely
celebrated here in NSW.
It commemorates an event in olden times which is well known to Muslims, Christians and
Jews alike.
I am sure members of the Pakistani community in NSW have fond memories of family
celebrations of Eid ul-Adha as children in their former homeland and hold fast to those
traditions here in Australia.
While some aspects of the qurbani cannot be practised here, the enjoyment of sharing a
meat-based meal continues and maintains the memory of Abraham’s sacrifice.
I wish the whole Pakistani community a very happy Eid ul-Adha.
I also congratulate Sangat Australia Magazine on its splendid first edition and look forward
to many future editions.
