ILM Society NSW

The ILM Society of NW Sydney ‘Iftar’ is an annual event held during every holy month of Ramadan. On this day we gather our family friends for congregational breaking of the fast at sunset, followed by maghrib prayer, dinner and lastly taraweeh prayer. Like every year since started 14 years ago , this year it was held at Cherrybrook Technology High School in the multipurpose function centre over the long weekend on Monday 12th June 2017. Mr Faisal Shamsi, President, ILM society thanked all the attendees who spared their valuable time to attend the Iftar dinner hosted by the society and briefed about the activities of ILM society.

This was a highly successful event attended by community members from all around the Hills District region. Every year the number of attendees are growing and we are seeing more new families and faces. The prayers were lead by imam Rehan, followed by a religious speech. The members of the ILM Society worked tirelessly and meticulously to make the event an enjoyable one for all. The food was sumptuous, and was catered for the event by the ILM Society. The community members joyously participated in the evening feast and communal activities. The event has been successful in bringing the community together, and increase harmony and sense of communal belonging. The event was specially attend by Mr Abdul Majid Yousfani, Consul General Of Pakistan who had another commitment and despite his hectic schedule he managed the time for the ILM Iftar event.

 

The event has been open to all inter faiths, and in the past was attended by local church community members increasing the communal bonding. ILM Society has been working very closely with the local church groups, and extending helping hands in every opportunities. The Society has built very solid and harmonious relationships with the local schools and other community groups over the last 14 years. The Society runs a Juma prayer at 134 Newline Road Cherrybrook, weekend children’s Arabic school and the Eid prayers for the local muslims. The Society continues to strive for excellence in community services and aims to maintain its rapport in the years to come ahead.
