On behalf of the NSW Government I would like to send my best wishes to everyone celebrating Eid ul-Fitr at the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Australian Muslims will join millions of others around the world celebrating the festival of Eid, which is a joyous time marked by compassion, gratitude and generosity.
I hosted my third Iftar at NSW Parliament and was invited to break bread with friends who have been diligently practicing their faith over the past month.
I commend the Islamic community for welcoming people from different faiths and backgrounds into their homes to share an Iftar meal. I hope this generosity continues next year to promote mutual respect and a better understanding of the Islamic faith in the wider community.
I wish everyone a happy and peaceful Eid.
Eid Mubarak.
